Mahmoud Bonakdarnia was born in 1961 in Tehran and he plays the role of the genie in Miracle of Bonasan.

Following finishing his high school in Tehran, Bonakdarnia continued his studies in Japan in Tukai University in International Relation Studies and he was graduated in 1989. Then, he studied a Russian language course in Moscow State University which ended in 1966. He later, attended courses on tourism, tourism service management and MBA before starting his work in this field.

Bonakdarnia, has worked as an interpreter, marketer, tour guide and tour manager in the past. He has served as a member of the board of directors and co-founder of Iranian Tour Guide Associations and a member of Advisory Committee of Iranian Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization among other things. He currently is the CEO of Khashayar Saman Organization and Institute and he continues his volunteer work with Tehran Peace Museum (TPM) and Society for Chemical Weapons Victims Support.

He began his cooperation with TPM as the translator and coordinator of MOCT in Iran and later appeared with his Japanese name in the Miracle of Bonasan as the genie.
